The questions to email your installer – copy-paste ready

Send all eight, even the ones your quote already covers – "in writing" is the point. Paste this into an email:

Before we go ahead, could you confirm the following in writing, as part of the quote:

The room-by-room heat-load calculation the design is based on – not sizing from total floor area.

The screed or under-slab insulation spec – product and rating, shown in the drawings.

The thermal break detail at the slab edge and at any alfresco, garage or pool junction.

The heat pump position, marked on the plan, with the clearances around it.

How the controls will be commissioned to the slab's actual heat-up time.

The commissioning and loop-by-loop balancing procedure, with the figures recorded.

The written performance guarantee – who owns the outcome if a room doesn't reach temperature.

The name of the engineer who signs off the design.

An installer who has done this work will answer in a day, and you should feel good about them. An installer who hasn't will go quiet, or tell you it's all standard. Either answer tells you what you're buying.
